Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – Revision, 1990
Definition:
The Office of Access & Ability Services is responsible for the policies and procedures regarding the implementation of accommodations in compliance with Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Access & Ability Services is part of Lincoln University's Student Services Unit. Students must self-identify and provide appropriate documentation of their specific disability.
A person has a disability if he or she:
- Has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity; or
- Has a record of a substantially limiting impairment.
An impairment is a physical, mental, or psychological disorder. Major life activities include breathing, walking, learning, seeing and hearing.
An impairment is considered substantially limiting if it prevents an individual from performing a major life activity, or significantly restricts the individual's ability to perform the activity compared with the average person in the general population.
