The Ed.S in Clinical Mental Health is designed for the mental health professional who wants to gain additional information in the field, conduct research and expand their knowledge.
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Possess knowledge and competencies that are outlined by the Missouri Committee for Licensed Professional Counselors.
- Demonstrate superior counseling skills.

- Three 3-hour electives approved by the advisor
Culminating Experience
- Counseling Internship (EDU 687)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Completed LU graduate application packet.
- Statement of purpose related to your program of interest.
- Letters of recommendation (3).
- Current professional vita or resume.
- Class scheduling: evenings/hybrid and asynchronous coursework
- Typical course load per semester: 9 credit hours
How to Apply

- Submit all required documents (transcripts, letters of recommendation, goal statement, resume)
- Pay a $30 application fee
- Application review by Graduate Studies and program faculty
- Once all documents are submitted, we request 10 business days for departments to review the application packet and respond.
- Admission decision notification
- Applicants will receive a notification letter with information regarding their admission status via their personal email. If admitted, this letter will include information regarding their student ID and University e-mail.
- Schedule a meeting with an advisor.

- Most graduates of the program become Licensed Professional Counselors and work as mental health counselors and advocates.
- Mental Health professionals can be found in agencies, community, government and private sectors
- After graduating from the program, they will only be required to receive 1500 hours of supervision for licensure, rather than the 3000 hours for people seeking licensure with only a master’s degree.
