College of Arts and Sciences

Overview

Lincoln's College of Arts and Science's majors enjoy working with a first class faculty which is committed to student success.  Small class sizes, particularly in the major courses, foster strong bonds between students and professors.  Many degrees offer options of emphasis areas such as broadcast or print journalism.

Students in these majors are writers, performers and critical thinkers who are instructed in theoretical knowledge and practical skills.  Internship opportunities exist in state and local government and  in broadcasting and production at local and national venues, including the university's award winning radio station, KJLU, and the public-access television station, JCTV.  Student writers, poets and artists are encouraged to share their creativity in the student newspaper, the Clarion, and in the student journal, Arts and Letters.  Student artists and musicians complete their degree programs with a capstone exhibition of their original art or a stage performance.  Students of all majors can perform with the band or the choir.  Internships are available at the Missouri State Capital and at other Missouri state offices.   As a result, our alumni are well prepared for careers in their fields and positioned to succeed in advanced educational training, graduate, or professional schools.

Special opportunities offered by the College through the departments include the Model UN Student Organization, membership in the Creative Community Art Club, participation in the Black College Quiz Competition and membership on the Honda Campus All-Star  Challenge team.
