Emergency Student Assistance Fund

Limited Assistance for Unexpected Financial Emergencies

The Lincoln University Emergency Student Assistance Fund provides limited, one-time financial assistance to currently enrolled students who are experiencing an unforeseen financial emergency that threatens their ability to remain enrolled.

This fund is intended for exceptional circumstances and is not a source of ongoing financial assistance. Funding is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee an award.

Eligibility

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Lincoln University.

  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.

  • Demonstrate a documented, unexpected financial emergency that occurred during the current academic term.

  • Show that all other reasonable financial resources have been explored.

  • Provide documentation supporting the emergency.

Examples of Eligible Emergencies

Examples may include:

  • Unexpected loss of housing

  • Utility shutoff or eviction notice

  • Emergency medical or dental expenses

  • Essential vehicle repairs needed for transportation to class or work

  • Funeral or emergency travel expenses due to the death or serious illness of an immediate family member

  • Other unforeseen circumstances that place the student's continued enrollment at risk

Routine living expenses, planned expenses, tuition balances, and non-emergency financial needs are generally not eligible for assistance.

Required Documentation

Applicants must submit documentation verifying the emergency. Depending on the situation, documentation may include:

  • Medical bills or invoices

  • Utility bills or shutoff notices

  • Eviction notices

  • Vehicle repair estimates

  • Funeral or travel documentation

  • Police reports

  • Other documents that verify the emergency

Incomplete applications or applications submitted without supporting documentation may not be considered.

Review Process

Applications are reviewed individually by University staff. Eligibility, the nature of the emergency, available resources, and funding availability are all considered during the review process. Additional information may be requested before a final decision is made.
