Faculty Recognition
Faculty Recognition Awards Program
In the Spring semester, Lincoln University celebrates excellence in mentoring new faculty, teaching, and community engagement by honoring outstanding faculty members through the Faculty Recognition Awards program. These awards acknowledge faculty who demonstrate exceptional dedication and have a significant impact on the university's academic mission and community. Nominations are accepted in April, and honorees are celebrated at a special event for their commitment to student success, scholarly achievements, and their role in advancing Lincoln University’s core values. In addition to the award recipients, faculty retirees are also recognized for their longevity and dedication to Lincoln University during this event.
Excellence in Teaching Award
The Excellence in Teaching Award is designed to recognize exceptional faculty members for their outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. This award highlights innovative teaching practices, the effective use of technology in the classroom, and creativity in curriculum development. It also emphasizes the profound impact faculty members have on their students' academic success and their overall contributions to fostering an intellectually vibrant university community.
To be eligible for The Excellence in Teaching Award, the nominee should be either a tenured or non-tenured professor with at least (5) years of full-time service at Lincoln University. Nominees are expected to showcase innovative teaching methods, inspire critical thinking and student engagement, and foster a supportive learning environment. Faculty who have received this award in the past three years are not eligible for nomination.
Each college at Lincoln University may have one faculty award recipient from their unit. Department Chairs or Deans can submit nominations, which should be sent to the Provost’s Office.

The Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award
The Junior Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award is designed to celebrate and recognize exceptional teaching practices among junior faculty members at Lincoln University. This award is bestowed annually to deserving junior faculty who demonstrate a strong commitment to student engagement, innovative teaching methods, and educational excellence.
To qualify for this recognition, nominees must hold junior faculty status, which is defined as having served as a full-time professor at Lincoln University for a period of two (2) to four (4) years. While nominees may be untenured, they must be in a tenure-track position, which embodies the potential for significant contributions to the academic community. It is important to note that junior faculty who have previously received this award are ineligible for re-nomination.
Nominations for this award are carefully selected and reviewed by the Dean or a designated college selection committee. Each college is allowed to nominate only one non-tenured, tenure-track eligible junior faculty member each year.
