1890 David Scott Full Ride Scholarship

This program is supported by the 1890 Agricultural Scholars Program 2020-38430-31309 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The 1890 Scholarships Program (full ride) encourages outstanding students at 1890 institutions to pursue and complete baccalaureate degrees in the food and agricultural sciences and related fields that would lead to a highly skilled food and agricultural systems workforce.

  • Must be a citizen or national of the United States
  • Must have been accepted for admission to Lincoln University of Missouri for full-time enrollment and be enrolled not later than one year after the date of acceptance
  • Must select a major course of study within CAEHS or a related discipline
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a program of study within CAEHS to be eligible for 1890 support
  • Must intend to pursue a career in the food and agricultural sciences, including agribusiness or financial management
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 at the time of application and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 each semester enrolled and through the time in the program
  • A scholar will be placed on probation if the GPA is below 3.0 after a semester, and the scholarship stopped if the GPA remains below 3.0 GPA after another semester.

Lincoln University CAEHS will require the following supporting documents for high school applicants:

  • Privacy Act Advisory Statement and Release Form
  • Completion of the current and/or upcoming academic year FAFSA
  • Biographical Questionnaire
  • Letter of recommendation from a high school counselor
  • A current resume
  • Provide a 500- to 800-word essay describing the interest and intention to pursue a career in the food or agricultural sciences or related field
  • Current and most recent official transcript with the school’s seal and/or signature of an authorized school official
  • Signed and dated application (with the signature of parent or guardian if an applicant is under 18 years old)

USDA/1890 National Scholar Program

The USDA/1890 National Scholar Program is aimed at bolstering educational and career opportunities for students from rural or underserved communities around the country. It was established in 1992 as part of the partnership between USDA and the 1890 land-grant universities.

To be eligible for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program scholarship a student must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Have been accepted for admission or currently attending one of the nineteen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities.
  • Study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related academic disciplines
  • Demonstrate leadership and community service
  • Submit an official transcript with the school seal and an authorized official's signature
  • Submit a signed application (original signature only)
  • 21 ACT, 1080 SAT scores

Who Should Apply
The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program is open to high school seniors entering their freshman year of college, and rising college sophomores and juniors.
