Lincoln University’s Online MA in Community and Economic Development Prepares Leaders to Strengthen Communities

Sara Henderson | March 11th, 2026

Lincoln University of Missouri offers a fully online Master of Arts in Community and Economic Development designed for professionals working in government, nonprofit administration, urban planning and community development.

The program, offered through Lincoln University’s College of Arts and Sciences, provides working professionals with the credentials and skills to advance into leadership roles without stepping away from their current jobs. Flexible eight-week courses allow students to complete the 36-credit-hour program in as little as 18 months.

“This program was built for people who are already doing the work in their communities and want to do it better,” said Elizabeth Dorssom, assistant professor of political science at Lincoln University. “The MA CED gives them the tools to lead with strategy, engage with purpose and create sustainable change right where they are.”

Students can tailor their studies through four concentration areas — Urban and Regional Planning, Civic Engagement, Government and Non-Profit Leadership, and Social Entrepreneurship — and graduate prepared for roles in city and county management, public administration, community leadership and urban planning.

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum GPA of 3.0. For more information or to apply, visit https://qr1.be/CUTI or contact Graduate Studies at GradSchool@LincolnU.edu or 573-681-5125.
