Lincoln University Holds Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony

On Thursday, September 11, the Lincoln University community gathered on the Quad for Patriot Day: A Day of Remembrance, honoring the lives lost in the September 11, 2001, attacks and recognizing the courage of first responders and service members.

The morning began with a gathering at 7:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 7:40 a.m. Maj. McQuilliams and Dr. Darius Watson offered remarks before the tolling of the bell at 7:46 a.m. and a moment of silence.

The Quad featured visual tributes, including flags arranged in the shape of “9/11.” The Jefferson City Fire Department displayed the U.S. flag. Kona Ice and Living Aloha Coffee were also available during the event.

The observance was hosted by the Lincoln University Army ROTC and Military and Veteran Services, with support from the Lincoln University Police Department. Students, faculty, staff and community members joined together in reflection and remembrance.
