How to Cite the Collection

 

Published and Unpublished Works:

For published works and unpublished works like federal/state reports and master theses, cite using the standard citation style of your choice (MLA, Chicago, APA, etc.).  At the end of the standard citation, cite the Center's location in parenthesis ().
  • Ex.  Savage, W. Sherman.  History of Lincoln University.  Jefferson City: Lincoln University of Missouri,  1939.  [University Archives/Ethnic Studies Center; Inman E. Page Library, Jefferson Ctiy, Missouri.]

Institutional Records:

For insitutional records, such as Board of Curators Minutes, please cite the collection's title, the classification number and the Center's location.
  • Ex.  Board of Regents of Lincoln Institute.  Minutes of the Meetings of the Executive Committee of Board of Regents.  Lincoln Institute, June 1903-June 1921.  (LU: 02/01); Lincoln University Collection; Inman E. Page Library, Jefferson City, Missouri.

 

Vertical Files and Manuscript Collections:

For vertical files and manuscript collections, cite the letter, newspaper article, program, etc., along with the folder number (if applicable), collection title and classification number, the Center's location and the date you viewed the collection.
  • Ex.  Program for dance recital of the Lincoln University Dance Troupe.  Shades of Blackness.  Jefferson City: Lincoln University of Missouri, 1993; (Dance Troupe Vertical File); Lincoln University Collection; Inman E. Page Library, Jefferson City, Missouri.  March 27, 2008.

  • Ex.  Program for the 1926 Band Concert.  Jefferson City: Lincoln University of Missouri, 1926; (Joseph Trigg Papers, LU: 21/100, Folder #1); Lincoln University Collection; Inman E. Page Library, Jefferson City, Missouri, March 27, 2008.

 

Photographs, Videos and Prints:

For photographs and other film media, cite the image title or image number, creator (if available), date of film, collection title and classification number, the Center's location, and copyright information (if available).
  • Ex.  Memorial Hall (ID0001), 1950, (Buildings on Campus Vertical File--Memorial Hall); Lincoln University Collection; Inman E. Page Library, Jefferson City, Missouri.  Copyright: Lincoln University (MO).
