Lincoln University of Missouri will celebrate its 160th anniversary during the Sept. 25 Birthday Bash Scholarship Soiree.
Lincoln University of Missouri will celebrate 160 years of history, tradition and Blue Tiger pride during its 160th Birthday Bash Scholarship Soiree on Friday, Sept. 25, a signature event of Homecoming 2026.
To be held at 7 p.m. in the university’s new Health and Security Sciences Institute, the evening will bring together alumni, friends and supporters for fellowship, hors d’oeuvres and drinks, silent and live auctions, entertainment and special recognition. Proceeds will support student scholarships and invest in the next generation of Blue Tigers.
“Celebrating 160 years of Lincoln University gives us an opportunity to honor the generations of Blue Tigers who built this university while looking ahead to the next 160 years,” said Lincoln University President John B. Moseley. “As we look to the future, we must continue investing in our students and ensuring they have the support and resources they need to succeed and carry the Lincoln legacy forward.”
A highlight of the evening will be the celebration of the 2026 Sapphire Award honorees: LaTonya AnNoor, Class of 2009; Joe Cooper, Class of 1992; Florene Calvin Dawkins, Class of 1977; Hardy K. Dorsey Sr., Class of 1967; and Gene R. Lock, Class of 1965.
Created to celebrate alumni and friends whose legacies have uplifted and strengthened the Blue Tiger tradition, the Sapphire Award recognizes individuals whose extraordinary service, achievements and commitment embody the spirit of Lincoln University. The Sapphire Award was introduced during the University’s 100th Homecoming celebration in 2025.
The celebration carries forward the vision of the freed Black Civil War soldiers who founded Lincoln University in 1866, continuing the founders' legacy of investment in educational opportunity and the potential of generations to come.
Advance ticket purchase for the event is required, and seating is limited. Tickets are available through Hometown Ticketing. Guests should retain their confirmation email for entry.
