Lincoln University Statement on Academic Integrity and Shared Governance

December 30th, 2025

Lincoln University is aware of a recent opinion article published in The Kansas City Star containing unfounded allegations about academic grading and governance.

Academic integrity is and always will be the cornerstone of our mission. The University maintains a rigorous grade review process designed to prioritize faculty authority while also providing due process protections for students. Faculty members, department heads, academic deans, and the Provost’s Office each play a role in the academic appeals process when a student feels that their grade has been misrepresented. This is a facts-based, transparent process, in which the student and the faculty member are allowed an opportunity to provide evidence to support their arguments.

The claims raised in this article have been repeatedly reviewed in legal proceedings, and the courts have dismissed multiple lawsuits filed by the faculty member, showing no wrongdoing by the University.

Lincoln University remains committed to following established policies and procedures and complying fully with all applicable state and federal laws, as we continue to support our students and uphold the integrity of our academic mission.
