Lincoln University of Missouri Receives $10,000 from Kwame Foundation at 21st Annual Golf Tournament

July 1st, 2025

Lincoln University of Missouri participated in the Kwame Charitable Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament, a philanthropic event dedicated to supporting college students through endowed scholarships for those with financial need. During the event, the Foundation presented Lincoln University with a $10,000 donation—an annual contribution toward the $50,000 Tyrone Thompson Criminal Justice Scholarship, named in memory of the late Tyrone Thompson, brother of Kwame Building Group Founder, CEO and Chairman Tony Thompson. Board of Curators President Victor Pasley and Vice President for University Advancement Grant Winrow accepted the donation on behalf of the university.

The Lincoln University team, led by LU Golf Coach Kortland Ware, included Pasley and Ware’s brothers, Keith and Kendall. The team secured a second-place finish in the tournament. As a partner institution, Lincoln University supported the event through team participation, sponsorships and donations.

Beyond the golf competition, the event featured a silent auction, where each university contributed a themed gift basket, and a reception highlighting the foundation’s annual contributions. Lincoln University donated a custom LU golf caddy, which became one of the top-selling items in the silent auction.

Lincoln University's relationship with the Kwame Charitable Foundation is especially meaningful: Coach Ware is a former Kwame Scholar. In 2024, the Foundation extended its support even further by committing to help upgrade the golf team’s practice facility and provide transportation resources.
