Lincoln University of Missouri students, faculty, staff, family and friends celebrated the achievements of the university’s top academic students at the 2025 Honors Convocation at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, in Mitchell Auditorium, Richardson Fine Arts Center on the LU campus.
Held annually in the spring, the Honors Convocation recognizes students’ top achievements of the year. Each school and department honors Lincoln’s best and brightest for their work and awards scholarships to encourage and support students as they continue fulfilling their academic mission and Lincoln.
“Today is a milestone — it’s not a finish line,” said Lincoln University of Missouri President Dr. John B. Moseley in his address to students. “Take pride in your achievements but continue to set new goals, pursue new opportunities and represent our university with the same drive that brought you to this room today.”
Rhonda Allen-Lewis, a Jefferson City native and LU alumna, served as the keynote speaker. Allen-Lewis has 23 years of experience in education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Lincoln, as well as a master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. She is in her fourth year as an assistant principal at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
“This road hasn’t been easy, I know that from my own experience, but you made it here,” said Allen-Lewis during her keynote address. “And more importantly, you’ve got what it takes to keep going. This isn’t just a celebration, it’s a passing of the torch, because when you walk out of this room today, you’re not just carrying a certificate with your name on it — you’re carrying a legacy ... legacy doesn’t stop with you, it flows through you."
