"Undead Ahead: Anthropological Considerations of Vampires"
Vampires have captured the public’s imaginations for over a century, but they have not always been favored undead creatures. In this talk Dr. Christine E. Boston, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Sociology, will use an anthropological lens to explore the history and cultural meanings of the undead and the rise of vampires.
She will address the origin stories of unfortunate souls with unfinished business to the real life vampires that exist today, the linguistic history of the term vampire, and the archaeological evidence to support our historical narratives of these creatures. If you are a sucker for a good time, you will not want to miss this talk!
