Student Career Session with USDA Foreign Agricultural Service
Students are invited to connect with a senior leader from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), on Thursday, September 17.
Ms. Emel J. Lyons, Managing Director of Global Programs with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service, will be visiting Lincoln University for two sessions designed to engage both faculty and students.

Focus: Internships, Careers, and Opportunities with USDA Foreign Agricultural Service
The student session will introduce students to career pathways within USDA FAS, including internship and employment opportunities, international career experiences, and the types of skills and academic backgrounds that can lead to careers with a federal agency operating on a global scale.
About Ms. Emel J. Lyons
Ms. Lyons has been with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service since 1996 and has extensive experience in agricultural trade policy, trade capacity building, trade promotion, and international agricultural programs. She currently serves as Managing Director of FAS’s Global Programs unit, which administers more than 20 programs supporting global food security, economic growth, and the development of foreign markets for U.S. agricultural products.
She brings more than 15 years of supervisory experience leading diverse teams and has worked extensively with international institutions and stakeholders around the world. Ms. Lyons holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from North Carolina A&T State University.
