LU-MRRL Lecture Series
You are invited to the upcoming LU-MRRL Lecture Series event, "Sorcery, Scandal, and... Swans? Early Modern Crimes and Punishments." This event is scheduled for Sept 9 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Art Gallery, Missouri River Regional Library (214 Adams Street, Jefferson City). This talk will feature Dr. Hannah Bowling, an assistant professor of English from the department of Humanities and Communications at Lincoln. Additional information is available here:
What do witchcraft, crop damage, and property theft have in common? They were all major sources of anxiety for the English during the early modern period. Dr. Hannah Bowling, assistant professor of English, will speak on crime and punishment during the 1400-1600s. Learn about some of the famous (and infamous) court cases from this period and how early modern people were concerned with many of the same legal matters that we still worry about today.
