America's 250th: Celebrating Black History Month

The Cole County America 250th Committee and Lincoln University host a special Black History Month celebration including:

  • Keynote address by Michelle Brooks, author of First to Freedom: Cole County US Colored Troops, exploring the lives of more than 100 Black Civil War soldiers with connections to Cole County, Missouri, including Lincoln University of Missouri, founded by the 62nd and 65th USCTs.

  • Portrayals of President Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln University's first president Richard Baxter Foster

  • Performances by Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble

  • Master of Ceremonies: Bob Priddy, Trustee, The State Historical Society of Missouri
