LU-MRRL Lecture Series
You are invited to the upcoming LU-MRRL Lecture Series event, "Teaching Adult Male Prisoners." This event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8 from 6:30-8 pm at the Art Gallery, Missouri River Regional Library (214 Adams Street, Jefferson City). This talk will feature Dr. Gary Kowaluk, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. The complete talk summary is below:
Lincoln University offers prisoners at the Jefferson City Correctional Center the opportunity to earn a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies. Dr. Gary Kowaluk teaches Introduction to Sociology and relies on his past experiences working with mental patients as a peer leader, helping inmates adjust to prison and learning a six-step scheme that represented the Pirandellian "Prison of the Mind." He will provide a description of what it is like to be in prison from a prisoner's point of view.
