LU-MRRL Lecture Series
You are invited to attend the next LU-MRRL Lecture Series event occurring Monday, October 23 at 6:30 pm, which is titled: Bad Moon Rising: Anthropology and Werewolves.
Humans have been fascinated and terrified by monsters for millennia. One of the enduring myths is the werewolf, a human that purportedly transforms into a wolf. Or does it? The multitude of tales concerning these creatures were and continue to be woven into our histories, medical diagnoses, and even our past and current moralities, guiding human behaviors and interactions in both positive and negative ways. Join Dr. Christine Elisabeth Boston, associate professor of anthropology and sociology, as she takes a bite out of what the European notions of werewolves tell us about these societies and cultures throughout the ages and what it means to be human (and inhuman) today.
