LU-MRRL Lecture Series: Kirigami Crafts

The LU-MRRL Lecture Series invites you to attend "Kirigami Crafts: From Folding and Cutting Paper to Smart Materials and Soft Robotics" on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 pm at the Missouri River Regional Library (214 Adams Street in Jefferson City, MO). Origami--the Japanese art of folding paper--and its cutting variation Kirigami, are among the most popular crafts we learn as kids. The joy of creating interesting shapes from a flat sheet is something we carry well into adulthood. Get ready to make Kirigami paper crafts with Dr. Vianney Gimenez-Pinto, assistant professor of physics and chemistry. In her talk, she will also explore how folding a paper airplane or cutting a paper snowflake has inspired applied scientists and engineers toward developing new materials, devices and technologies.
This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available adjacent to the library building, as well as across the street in the overflow lot. More information is available here: https://www.mrrl.org/event/lu-mrrl-lecture-series-kirigami-crafts-folding-and-cutting-paper-smart-materials-and-soft
