Political Science at LU
Political Science at Lincoln University (LU) helps students develop writing, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Political Science emphasizes knowledge of current events and international affairs important in a globalizing world and in a competitive job market. LU Political Science students benefit from internship opportunities and guest speakers taking advantage of our location in the state capital of Missouri.
The Political Science curriculum is flexible and appropriate for students who want to gain knowledge that will allow them to be engaged citizens in a democracy as well as the student who seeks specialized knowledge of political institutions as a gateway to a career in politics or public service.
Political Science faculty are student-centered in their approach to teaching and mentoring, and these faculty provide an individualized educational experience within the structure provided by the political science major.
Political Science majors and minors from Cole County are eligible to for the Viola M. Smith fellowship, which pays up to $7,000 per year for educational expenses, and it is possible to establish residency during studies at LU.
