Your Journey from Paraprofessional to Educator Starts Here

The Para to Pro Pathway Program at Lincoln University is designed to provide paraprofessionals, teacher assistants, or full-time substitute teachers with a flexible opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (Elementary Education or Special Education) and become certified teachers.

Through this program, you can advance your career and impact the lives of students by becoming a fully licensed educator in the state of Missouri.

The best part? This program serves as a "Grow Your Own" initiative, supporting school districts by enabling classroom aides to become certified teachers without leaving their current roles.

About the Para to Pro Online Program

Built for Working Educators
Designed specifically for paraprofessionals, teacher assistants, and long-term substitute teachers with at least two years of classroom experience. Turn the skills you've already developed into a teaching degree and certification.

100% Online. Designed to Fit Your Schedule.
Complete coursework in convenient 8-week sessions from anywhere. Take 2–3 courses at a time and earn your degree without commuting to campus.

Graduate Sooner
Stay on track to complete your bachelor's degree and teacher certification in as few as five semesters.

Supportive Cohort Experience
Learn alongside a small group of peers who understand your journey. Cohorts of 15–25 students foster meaningful connections, collaboration, and support from start to finish.

Get Credit for the Work You're Already Doing
Your classroom experience matters. Instead of completing a traditional student teaching placement, you'll receive experiential credit while being observed in your current classroom setting.

Advance Your Career Before Graduation
Some Para to Pro students have qualified for a provisional teaching certificate before completing their degree, allowing them to step into teaching roles and earn a higher salary while finishing the program. Check with your school district to learn about available opportunities.
