All questions regarding degree completion requirements should be directed to the Dean of your college or school or a representative from Academic Affairs.
Please strictly follow directions given by the Marshals and other Officials. There should be no stepping, hopping, or strolling, at any point of the commencement ceremony to include neither during the procession nor on stage when receiving degree. Graduates are to remain in line at all times during the commencement ceremony processional.
Failure to adhere to this standard will result in you and/or your organization being fined (to be donated to the LU Scholarship Fund) and a delay in receiving your degree and transcript. Any individual who violates this request will be removed from Dwight T. Reed Stadium by LUPD.
Please remain in your seat for the entire ceremony. Movement on the floor where graduates are seated is distracting to the guests in the stands, and it is disrespectful to the speakers. If for some important reason, you must leave the ceremony, please speak to one of the commencement assistants.
The university wishes to recognize every graduate individually by calling each student to the stage and saying their name. Students and guests are asked to refrain from extensive screaming or yelling beyond the family member's time on stage receiving degree. Again, each graduate deserves to have their name heard by family members and friends. Please be courteous to your fellow classmates.
To ensure you are on-time, present and enjoy the entire occasion, you should not be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol nor give the appearance of such; this will prevent you from being allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.
In light of the formality of commencement, all graduates are expected to wear appropriate attire and proper academic regalia. Concerning clothing worn under the gown; men should wear dress shirt with dark tie, dark trousers, dress shoes and socks; women should wear dress, skirt or dark slacks and blouse, dress shoes. Casual wear (i.e., blue jeans, printed shirts, shorts, fluorescent colors, etc.) is not appropriate attire for this occasion.
Mortarboards should not be overly adorned with personal accessories or messages. Decorative items must not extend beyond the four edges of the mortarboards.
Please turn off cellular telephones during the ceremony, as a courtesy to those around you, our degree candidates and guests. The use of cell phones is restricted to the lineup/staging area only.
