Awards of Excellence
Students make a significant and lasting impact on Lincoln University. The Awards of Excellence are given by the Office of Student Activities. These awards recognize the leadership, programming and other outstanding abilities of individual students and student organizations that support the mission of the university. These students have made significant and lasting impact with their peers, on campus and in the community.
Award Categories
- OSA Service Award (Individual)
- This award is given to a student who has played an active role in building community, enhancing wellness, volunteering, promoting diversity and who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities. This student is exceptional in working towards the goals of the Office of Student Activities by Educating, Engaging, Empowering and exposing our students to a wonderful and positive experience outside of the classroom.

- This award is given to a registered organization which has played an active role in building community, enhancing wellness, volunteering, promoting diversity and that has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities. - Blue Tiger Spirit Award (Individual)
- This award is given to a student who shows school spirit and takes pride in the mission of the university. This person is an exciting and lively presence at LU events, and actively participates in campus and community activities. Must be a positive and visible student on campus while participating in the various events (athletic events, paw painting, etc.)
- Blue Tiger Spirit Award (Organization)
- This award is given to a registered organization which shows school spirit and takes pride in the mission of the university. This organization is an exciting and lively presence at LU events, and actively participates in campus and community activities. Must be a positive and visible organization on campus while participating in the various events (athletic events, paw painting, etc.)
- Distinguished Student Leader Award
- This award is given to students serving in leadership roles who have made a positive impact through their outstanding contributions to the university community. There are four areas of recognition available: Philanthropic/Community Service, Peer Mentor and Supporter, Spiritual Development and Celebration and Promotion of Diversity. Students must exhibit overall good character and maintain a good academic records. They must have an established record of service and leadership. The students must exhibit a strong sense of school pride and spirit. Students receiving these awards must demonstrate motivation, enthusiasm and self-reliance, while inspiring and empowering others.
- Outstanding Class Award (Individual)
- This award honors an individual who personifies academic achievement, has a passion for learning and compassion for others, while still being involved in student activities. This individual must have proven leadership ability, show potential for other leadership roles on campus and maintain good academic standards. This individual exhibits an understanding that learning continues outside of the classroom. This award is presented to one individual in each class.
- Oustanding Class Award (Class Council)
- This award honors a class council that personifies academic achievement, has a passion for learning and compassion for others, while still being involved in student activities. The council must have contributed to their respective class in a positive way. The Class Council exhibits an understanding that learning continues outside of the classroom.
- Extraordinatory Program Award
- This award is given to an individual or organization for exceptional programming. Programming includes cultural, social, guest speaker or advocacy. The individual or organization must have conceived, planned and implemented the program, and the program should have proven beneficial to those intended. The program must demonstrate collaboration, diversity, development and leadership relative to important issues for the students.
- Silent Inspiration Student Support Award
- This award is given to a student who puts their heart and soul into everything they do by consistently going above and beyond, but is often unrecognized. This person mentors, supports, encourages and inspires organization members or other students. This person works extremely hard and is dedicated and dependable, while receiving no compensation for their involvement/work.
- Promise Award
- This award is given to an individual or organization that has the most potential of having a special and significant impact on the Lincoln University campus. This individual or organization should make an investment towards the collegiate experience for their peers with measurable results.
- Outstanding Greek Lettered Organization Award
- This award is given to a fraternity or sorority who has shown exceptional skills in leadership, service and scholarship that promotes the ideals and concepts of their organization and supports the mission of the university.
- Fraternity Man and Sorority Woman Award
- This award is given to the overall top Fraternity Man and Sorority Woman student leaders who have made the most significant overall contribution to the fraternity and sorority community and to the university. These students must be in good standing with their organization (local, state, regional, national) and the university. These students must hold, or have assisted those in, a leadership role while representing their organization. These students must have held other leadership roles on campus with non-Fraternity/Sorority organizations or committees.
- Leadership Legacy Award
- This award is given to a student whose long-term dedication and commitment have made a positive impact on sustaining the visibility of a student organization. This student has demonstrated strong leadership skills and has taken great strides to help students through campus and community involvement. This student exemplifies integrity in all words and actions and demonstrates initiative by seeking ways to challenge the present and enrich the future.
- Community Service Award
- This award is given to an organization that has bridged a connection between the university community and the Jefferson City community through involvement and service. This award will recognize the organization that has created a strong community connection in the areas of leadership, community need, community benefit, creativity and impact.
- Co-Sponsorship Award
- This award is given to the organizations providing the most outstanding co-sponsorship program or program series for the betterment of the campus, students and Lincoln University. Organizations receiving this award understand the importance of collaboration and display vision and understanding of campus and community needs.
- Diversity Programming Award
- This award is given to a student or organization which has displayed exceptional educational awareness of cultural diversity through innovative programming that reflects the ever changing demographics of Lincoln University's student population. The programs or events should have focused on campus diversity or diversity issues and encouraged acceptance and respect.
