Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Professional Studies which consists of the following departments:  Department of Business, Department of Education, and the Department of Nursing Science.  Students interested in professional careers in business, teaching, or nursing can pursue 16 different majors offered through these three areas.  These majors are some of the most popular among students attending Lincoln University.  In addition, the degree programs in business, education, and nursing are nationally accredited.  Business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).   The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredits nursing and education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).   In addition, nursing and education maintain state approval required for licensure and certification.  This ensures students that they are receiving a quality education.

Students enrolled in business, education, or nursing classes receive instruction in well-equipped state-of-the-art classrooms where class sizes are small and faculty provide personalized attention designed to meet individual students’ needs.   The degree programs in the College of Professional Studies provide students with learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom.  Nursing majors have clinical experiences in a wide variety of hospitals and health care agencies in the mid-Missouri area.  All education majors complete clinical/field experiences.  These experiences begin with an observations course and end with a semester of student teaching.  Through partnerships, students can be placed in mid-Missouri schools or urban areas such as Kansas City and St. Louis.  Students enrolled in business degree programs have opportunities for internships in their senior year through partnerships with large corporations and small businesses.  Students also have opportunities for outside learning experiences through a variety of student organizations.

By choosing to major in one of the degree programs offered in the College of Professional Studies, students are choosing excellence.  Each department has made a commitment to excellence through their curricular offerings, faculty credentials, program accreditations, and opportunities for student learning that go beyond the classroom.  By combining technology with tradition, students are able to maximize their potential and prepare themselves to be potential leaders in their chosen professions.
