Transfer Student Orientation - Mission

Transfer ROAR is designed to transition students to the University by providing programming relevant to university life.  The program is offered at strategic times throughout the year to accommodate the scheduling needs of students and their families.  Transfer ROAR is open to all transfer students entering the university with greater than 30 credit hours.  All transfer students who are new to the University are required to participate in Transfer ROAR.

 

Transfer ROAR - Goals

· To assist students in their transition to the University academically and socially.

 · To encourage participation in the academic and student support services offered at the 
    University.

· To introduce students to University services that will support their educational and personal goals, e.g. commuter student resources, information technology, academic, and student service departments.

· To facilitate initial academic counseling, placement testing, course selection, and registration.

· To familiarize students with the campus environment and physical facilities and to promote the awareness of all aspects of campus life, including formal and informal non-classroom activities.

· To assist students in identifying costs of higher education, both in terms of financial and personal commitments.

· To provide structured opportunities for new students and their families to meet faculty, staff, continuing students, and other new students.

 ·  To create an atmosphere that minimizes anxiety, promotes positive attitudes, and stimulates an excitement for learning.
