                      MEMORIAL FLAGS BECOME ANNUAL TRADITION

Jefferson City, MO- For the second year, Lincoln University will commemorate Veterans Day by displaying miniature flags on the campus leading up to and through the holiday.  Cadets from Lincoln University Army ROTC Blue Tiger Battalion will distribute 753 flags on the Soldiers’ Memorial Plaza on Thursday, November 7, at 3 p.m.  The flags honor the 753 commissioned officers who have matriculated through the ROTC program since its inception in 1950.

The Lincoln University Blue Tiger Battalion started the flag display in November 2012, after 25 years of hosting the Veterans Day breakfast.  The breakfast, which included veterans from around the community, saw a decline in attendance in recent years.  ROTC cadets will participate in community Veterans Day activities on Monday, November 11, at St. Joseph’s Bluffs Senior Center and the Freedom Corner Dedication Ceremony at the intersection of High and McCarty Streets.
