Lincoln University to Honor Founders

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY TO HONOR FOUNDERS
Jefferson City, MO- Lincoln University will commemorate 148 years in education during Founders Day activities on Thursday, February 6, at 11 a.m. in Richardson Fine Arts Center-Robert and Charlene Mitchell Auditorium. Dr. Kevin Rome, President of Lincoln University, will serve as the program’s speaker.
The annual Founders Day program is also used to honor those who have dedicated 25 years of service to the university. There are seven current employees who have reached this milestone. In addition, 13 retirees from within the past year will be recognized. The program will also include recognition of the Family of the Year.
Lincoln Institute was founded in 1866 by the men of the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantries. The first building on the present-day campus was built in 1871. College level work was added to the curriculum in 1887 and in 1921, the name was changed to Lincoln University.
