Inauguration activities to focus on community

A celebration of the community will be the focus of inauguration celebration of Lincoln University’s 19th President Dr. Kevin D. Rome. Under the theme, “A Community of One,” the weeklong activities begin Sunday, September 29 through Friday, October 4.
The week starts off with a community ice cream social on Sunday, September 29 at 5 p.m. on Lincoln University’s Soldiers’ Memorial Plaza. Celebrity ice cream servers will dish up vanilla ice cream and then guests can make their own creations by visiting the toppings buffet. The celebration will move to Dwight T. Reed Stadium at 6:30 p.m. when the university hosts a gospel concert, followed by a pep rally and fireworks show.
Lincoln University students will moderate academic symposia on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1 at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2 will be Day of Service on the Lincoln University campus. Students, faculty and staff will participate in activities aimed at bettering the campus and the community.
The Installation Ceremony for Dr. Kevin D. Rome is scheduled for Friday, October 4, at 9 a.m. in Richardson Fine Arts Center-Mitchell Auditorium. A post-inaugural reception will be held at 11 a.m. at Inman E. Page Library.
The black tie Inaugural Reception and Scholarship Ball will be held later Friday evening at Capitol Plaza Hotel.
