Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA)
The Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA) is an assessment required of all students seeking teacher certification in the state of Missouri, except those who already have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. All sections of the MoGEA must be passed for admission into the Teacher Education Program at Lincoln University. To register for the MoGEA, click here.
If you have already taken and passed all sections of the CBASE (prior to the administration of the MoGEA), you may use those scores for entry into the program until 12/31/2016. After that date, only MoGEA scores will be accepted.
The MoGEA is part of the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA) program developed by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Lincoln Education Department MoGEA Cut Scores (Through August 30, 2015)
|English: 186||Writing: 193||Math: 165||Science: 183||Social Studies: 183|
Please note that these scores are the cut scores for Lincoln's Education Department only. Other universities may have different cut scores. These scores are valid through August 30, 2015. A second version of the MoGEA will be implemented on August 31, 2015 with different cut scores (see below).
MoGEA Information for August 31, 2015 and Beyond
The State of Missouri is moving to a second version of the MoGEA beginning August 31, 2015. The new exam will contain four sections, as opposed to the five it contained previously. The most notable changes include combining the Science and Social Studies sections into one subtest, and changing the English/Language Arts portion. The state is allowing students to "mix and match" passing scores from the first exam and the second exam, so if some sections have been passed they will not need to be retaken. For the new combined Science/Social Studies section, students must have passed both portions on the old exam or retake this new combined exam.
Again, Lincoln University will be able to set their own scores temporarily. The new cut scores will be effective from August 31, 2015 until August 29, 2016, when the state set cut scores will take effect. Because this test has not been administered yet, and impact data is not yet available, Lincoln has not yet set cut scores for the year. We will post the cut scores after they have been determined, but encourage students nearing the application phase not to delay taking the MoGEA since the cut score will not have any effect on the score received. Students who take the new MoGEA exam will receive their score reports on or around December 18, 2015, and cut scores will have been set by this time.
