Mathematics Summer Camp
Summer Enrichment Program
July 2nd through July 16th, 2012
The Lincoln University Mathematics Summer Camp Program focuses on developing problem solving abilities, critical thinking and logical reasoning by exposing the students to a level of mathematics that they will not encounter in their high school classrooms, and as a result, motivating them to pursue a degree in math or a math-related field. Lincoln University professors, invited professors and graduate students from University of Missouri will present appropriate topics from advanced level mathematics. These presentations will touch on various branches of mathematics including combinatorics, number theory, probability, topology, and dynamical systems. The sessions will be conducted in a fun, interactive way through projects, games, puzzles, and applications. As the students work in small groups, they will be guided by Lincoln University mathematics professors through the process of thinking logically and creatively to solve problems. In addition to working on problems, participants will also enjoy recreational breaks and trips to local museums and research centers exposing them to a wider application of mathematics.
This summer program will be conducted on Lincoln University campus from Monday to Thursday for a two week period. We begin at 9:00AM and end at 4:00PM every day.
There will be no application fee for applying and registration fee for students accepted into Math Circle program. Each student participant will receive a $100.00 stipend. This program is open to all high school students.
Online applications are now being accepted at bluetigerportal.lincolnu.edu/web/dept-of-computer-science-mathematics-and-technology/registration-form
