Position: Assistant or Associate Research Professor, Viticulture. This is a professional-track (non-tenure) position (100% research) in the Division of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, University of Missouri. The position, which is part of the Missouri Grape and Wine Institute (GWI), is located on the MU campus in Columbia, MO.

Responsibilities: The faculty member will develop a nationally recognized viticulture research program that serves the needs of the grape and wine industry in Missouri and the surrounding region. The individual will work closely with the industry to prioritize viticulture research needs and conduct research that addresses those needs. The position will work closely with other faculty and staff members in the Missouri Grape and Wine Institute to meet challenges facing Missouri's grape and wine industries. The successful candidate will work as part of a highly collaborative team of faculty in areas that could include entomology, plant physiology, plant pathology, entomology, weed science, chemistry, meteorology, soil science and others as appropriate. The faculty member is expected to secure external research funding from appropriate sources and to publish research results in refereed journals and at professional meetings. The faculty member is expected to participate in graduate education.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have have a PhD in viticulture or closely related discipline and must have training and/or experience in viticulture research. Educational background and/or experience in enology is highly desirable. Prior experience in working with the grape and wine industry is desirable. Effective oral and written communications skills are required. Evidence of success in securing extramural grant support and postdoctoral training are desirable. Students who have completed their PhD candidacy exams may be considered.
