DEPARTMENT: 101 ESPN Sales
STATION & LOCATION: Hubbard Radio St. Louis (101 ESPN)
HOURS: 8:30 – 5:30 p.m. / Monday-Friday
FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Salaried)

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for building, maintaining and retaining corporate relationships with business entities which nay prove profitable to the Company. Identify marketplace opportunities, prospect and engage new clients, develop proposals and manage the contract process while ensuring client satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to meet and/or exceed assigned revenue budget in a manner that will reflect the highest level of professional standards and skills while selling and servicing accounts in conformity with company policies and procedures. Responsible for selling the full range of sports inventory including:
• Traditional radio commercial air time
• Assorted sports & news programming
• Online/interactive advertising
• Advanced marketing opportunities (e.g. events, sponsor activations, cause marketing, etc.)
• Ability to conceptualize and implement product marketing strategies and a desire to share expertise to enhance the sales department’s efforts.
• Goal-oriented and self-motivated with proven capability of independently organizing (utilize a time management system), performing work and assuring follow-through.
• Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must be a customer focused seller that creates and sells solutions on multiple platforms.
• Pursue and develop leads to acquire new business accounts.
• Maintain existing accounts in prompt and efficient manner.
• Designs and delivers presentations to current and prospective clients highlighting the products and services of the Company.
• Negotiate contract terms with clients, and follow through with contract process.
• Assure rate integrity and obtain credit approval for all new accounts.
• Responsible for all past-due account collections. Continually monitor assigned Accounts Receivable and assist in collection process, if necessary, to ensure that all invoices are paid on time.
• Stay abreast of up-to-date competitive local and industry practices, rates, ratings.
• Assist with promotions, productions and other areas of coordination for the Sales Department.
• Establish, in coordination with station management, specific sales goals and determine course of action required to successfully achieve potential and meet established objectives.
• Actively sell station inventory, at highest unit rate possible, to assigned advertising agencies and/or retail accounts by identifying client's needs matching their needs with the strengths of the station.
• Assure all sales transactions and promotions are properly approved by sales management prior to finalization with client.
• Generate appropriate paperwork required to properly support and document business by client and Hubbard Radio.
• Relate with and, service on a timely and regular basis, clients and/or agencies. Service to include: provide appropriate research (product as well as radio and station), seek out and develop creative ways to utilize advertising monies, assist with or write copy, keep informed as to market conditions.
• Continually prospect and develop new clients and explore non-traditional opportunities, whenever possible.
• Interface effectively with other station departments to assure client satisfaction.
• Meaningful participation and attendance in departmental Sales meetings and /or other scheduled Sales training.
• Keep sales management informed regarding: status of assigned accounts existing marketing opportunities, marketing developments, sales climate, and/or other communication or data regarding other radio stations, clients, media, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Prefer someone who has worked in a radio broadcasting environment, related function or exposure to sports sales and dealing with clients.
• Two years post high school education in communication, business, related field, or equivalent.
• Educated and/or experienced in communications, sales, media sales, sports marketing, advertising, or equivalent
• Experience requires a successful demonstration of the following:
A. Producing immediate sales results and achieving revenue budgets.
B. Creating & maintaining excellent business/client relations with a multitude of clients.
C. Ability to function well under pressure and willing to work irregular hours which may include but is not limited to nights and weekends.
D. Familiarity with industry, negotiating practices, marketing principles.
E. High energy level and aggressive attitude toward sales.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Valid driver's license and insurability.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, sometimes stressful, environment.
• Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.
• Ability to handle and keep confidential information.
• Willingness to participate in learning and growth opportunities within and outside the Company.
• Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to function in a team environment.
• Ability to work established schedule and other hours as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
• Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
• Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
