Applicants MUST posses permanent or temporary Wisconsin Social Worker certification. Applicants with an out of state certification will be considered if they can receive a WI certification upon offer. Possession of or eligibility for a Wisconsin driver’s license and access to reliable personal motor vehicle transportation. Knowledge and application of the principles and practices of social work intervention. Knowledge and application of family systems theory, child and family development, crisis intervention theory and the dynamics of child abuse and neglect. Knowledge of current social and economic problems and ways in which these problems affect individuals and families. Knowledge of laws, regulation and practices pertaining to federal and state human service programs, particularly those laws relating to child welfare. Knowledge of human service and health resources and how to access and utilize those resources. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the agency and the community. Ability to relate to people in culturally competent, unprejudiced and understanding manner with concern for their values, experiences, circumstances and feelings. Ability to maintain accurate, current case record documentation and prepare clear, concise reports based on documentation of case information and practice. Ability to conduct interviews with children, adults and families and gather information from community members and professionals to synthesize and analyze information gathered, to perform necessary decision making and casework activities based on the assessment of the information gathered and to recommend appropriate service response. Ability to plan and organize work in an effective and timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with a variety of individuals and families and under a variety of circumstances. Ability to temporarily care for and supervise youth ages 0-17. This includes lifting and carrying of young children.
