Mission Statement

The mission of Career, Counseling & Disability Services (CC&DS) is to provide high quality services in the areas of personal, academic, social, and career counseling to the University's diverse student population (i.e. academically at-risk students, physically challenged students and non-traditional student population). Additionally, Career, Counseling & Disability Services serves as a support system in conjunction with the academic areas, while simultaneously promoting student growth and development, thus contributing to the learning process beyond the classroom.

Role

The mission of Career, Counseling & Disability Services involves the following:

1. to provide career facts to those students entering the University, especially those who have not declared a major
2. to provide assessments and counseling which assist students to internalize their potential as citizens in the competitive American society
3. to refer students requiring counseling services beyond those offered by Career, Counseling & Disability Services to appropriate local agencies
4. to provide national and local testing services to the University and surrounding communities
5. to ensure that personnel receive opportunities for participation in staff development training
6. to facilitate and provide leadership in the University's efforts to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act, and
7. to contribute to the recruitment and retention rates of prospective and current students
