Common Read 2012-2013 Book Nominations
Each year the Common Read Committee accepts nominations for the Common Read selection for the upcoming year. We are now accepting nominations for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The Common Read Committee’s mission is to promote literacy by developing a campus-wide community of readers interested in reading, sharing and discussing popular works of fiction and non-fiction.
Our purpose is four-fold:
1) to create a campus climate that supports reading for pleasure as well as increased literacy,
2) to introduce important issues of scholarly interest to students, staff, faculty, and members of the community,
3) to increase our abilities to read critically and engage in meaningful dialog on such issues, and
4) to initiate incoming/first-year students into the world of academe.
In accordance with our mission and purpose, we invite you to submit a recommendation (or recommendations) of a selection in which you would like the committee to consider as LU’s next Common Read. Please submit the title(s) and author(s) of any recommendations, including a brief explanation of why you feel the book(s) would be good for the 2012-2013 Common Read by November 30, 2011, to commonread@lincolnu.edu.
