Admission of Licensed Practical Nurses to the A.A.S. in Nursing

To be considered for admission to the AAS in Nursing, the applicant must:

1.  Have a letter of admission to LU

2.  Have a current Missouri LPN license in good standing.

3.  Have scored at least 65 on the NET entrance exam

4.  Submit 3 letters of reference using departmental forms

     1)  One letter of reference must be from a work supervisor, if employed in the past year.

     2)  If graduating in the past 5 years, provide a reference from an LPN instructor.

5. Complete a departmental application

6. GPA of at least 2.0 (be in good academic and non-academic standing).

 

 

Student transcripts must reflect passage of required courses with a C or above on the first or second attempt within the last 5 years to be admitted. Transcripts reflecting a passing grade of C or above on the third attempt within a 5 year period will be an automatic disqualifier for admission. 

AftIf the above criteria are met, the admissions committee will review the applicant’s admission criteria and file for acceptability.  Upon acceptance by the admissions committee, a random selection process is used to place qualified applicants on a waiting

list for the next available space in the nursing program.  All applicants are notified in

writing of their acceptance or rejection and placed on the waiting list if accepted.

  If If the application process is not completed by the deadline, new information will have to

be submitted to be considered for the next admission process.

LPLPN Placement

AftAfter admission into the AAS in Nursing, the LPN must:

1.  1.  complete Nur 105: Transitions to Professional Nursing, placing the student into the appropriate nursing course based on the student's level of competence, 

 2. 2.  have completed all non-nursing courses needed based on the student's placement level in Nur 105
