  • The FAFSA is used for the entire academic year including summer
  • Indicate Lincoln University's school code of 0002479 on your FAFSA so that the University can retrieve your information electronically
  • Once your FAFSA is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Please read your SAR carefully and respond as instructed
  • There are several different types of federal financial aid available to you. They include the: Pell Grant, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), College Work Study (CWS), Subsidized Stafford Loan,Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, and PLUS loans
  • Pell Grant, SEOG, CWS and Subsidized Stafford Loans are need based financial aid programs. Your eligibility for these programs is calculated and determined by the federal government and Lincoln University. Lincoln University has a preferred deadline date of March 1 for the awarding of SEOG and CWS. These funds are limited and based on need. The State of Missouri MOSTARS program (http://www.dhe.mo.gov/Mostars/scholar2.htm) offers a need-based grant with a deadline date of April 1.
  • Subsidized Stafford Loan, Unsubsidized Stafford Loan and PLUS are loan programs offered by the federal government to assist in your educational expenses. The loans are guaranteed by the state and must be repaid by the borrower. The PLUS is a credit-based loan that the parent(s) borrows on behalf of the student. Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loan amounts vary depending on your grade level.
  • The financial aid staff will work diligently to create an award package to assist you in meeting your educational expenses. However, federal financial aid was not designed to meet your cost of education 100%. You may be required to pay the remaining educational cost your financial aid does not cover.
