Research Summary

 

Yang’s research interests are primarily on chemistry aspects of the soil-plant-contaminant interactions in terrestrial ecosystem, in context of specie transformation, environmental fates, risk assessment, and remediation. Recent activities are focused on in situ metal immobilization in contaminated soils for exposure and ecological risk reduction; Aqueous metal removal by chemically-modified activated carbons and nano-structured carbon tues; Plant species-specific rhizodegradation of munitions explosives; Application of fluorescent emission spectroscopy for water quality assessment; and Development of micro-chip sensor array for studying the rhizosphere interactions.
