Innovative Small Farmer to Speak at Lincoln University

[Jefferson City, MO]  One of America’s most dynamic and innovative small farmers will speak to the Cooperative Extension and Research units of Lincoln University and the University of Missouri later this month.  Joel Salatin, a third generation clean food farmer, will present “Holonic and Diversified Farming for Increased Production, Profit, and Pleasure" on Thursday, September 27, 2007, from 10 a.m.  - 12 noon in the Scruggs Center Ballroom.  This free seminar is also open to the public.
Salatin promotes food production that is environmentally, emotionally and economically enhancing for both producer and consumer.  Salatin's presentations and written works compare food produced on factory farms to those grown on pasture-based farms.  In addition, he is an advocate of responsible consumer choices in food buying.
An author and magazine columnist, Salatin and his 500-acre family farm have been featured in "Smithsonian" magazine", "National Geographic" magazine and "Gourmet" magazine.  He has also received numerous conservation awards.
