At a Glance

 

Health Insurance:  You and your family are eligible for health insurance benefits through United Healthcare.  Lincoln University provides a set amount of monthly premium contributions for each employee (currently @ $343.65) as well as allowing employee dependent coverage at the employee’s expense.  Lincoln University only offers a PPO Plan through United Healthcare.

 

Retirement:  Lincoln University provides vested employee retirement plans through the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS) and also through the College and University Retirement Plan (CURP).

 

            MOSERS is a “defined-benefit (non-contributory) retirement plan for all eligible staff employees.  You are fully vested after 5 years of employment.  The formula-driven benefit is paid to employees upon retirement.  Normal retirement benefits begin at age 55 with 25 years of service, at age 60 with 15, at age 65 with 4, or when the employee’s years of service and age equals 80.

 

            CURP is a “defined education plan” (non-contributory) retirement plan designed for teaching personnel, instructors, assistant professors, associate professors, professors and academic administrators holding faculty rank.  Any faculty member hired at Lincoln University for the first time after July 1, 2002, meets the definition of an “education employee” and does not have previous service credit under another plan administered by MOSERS is eligible to enroll.  However, your employer will determine your eligibility for the CURP based on the law and MOSERS’ board rules.  If you are eligible, you are fully and immediately vested in the benefits arising from contributions made under this plan.

 

**Lincoln Employees that are employed under the classification of federal employment will be covered through the Federal Civil Service Retirement System.  Lincoln University contributes 11.59% of the employee’s base salary.

 

Life Insurance and Long Term Disability –Two Type Plans  Basic life insurance coverage paid by the employers for employees eligible for the MOSERS retirement system at an annual salary amount or a minimum of $15,000 whichever is more.  Additionally, employee, spouse and children optional life is available at the expense of the employee through payroll deduction.  And you also have the option of purchasing additional insurance for yourself (up to six times your annual salary for a premium based on your age).

 

An active employee hired under the College and University Retirement Plan (CURP) or Civil Service Retirement Plan working 20 hours per week or more.  Employee paid basic coverage is one time the employee’s annual earnings.  Additionally, employee, spouse and children optional life insurance is available at the expense of the employee through payroll deduction.  And you also have the option of purchasing additional insurance for yourself (up to six times your annual salary for a premium based on your age).

 

Long Term Disability Insurance paid by the employer for employees eligible for the MOSERS retirement system, this covers absences due to injuries and illnesses that are not job-related.  Lincoln University provides disability insurance as a voluntary benefit to employees and any disability benefits received by the employee are taxable.  Lincoln University’s long-term disability policy starts 90 days after the onset of illness or injury.

 

Dental and Vision Insurance is offered through Standard Insurance.  The employee has the option to enroll in dental and vision insurance along with eligible dependents at the employee’s expense.   There are two plan options:  Basic Low Plan or High Plan, with differing types of dental service coverage and premium costs.  Lincoln University does not contribute to dental and vision coverage.

 

Missouri State Employee’s Cafeteria Plan (MOCafe) allows an employee to tax defer health, dental and vision insurance premiums, flexible medical benefits and dependent care assistance.  A new employee must enroll within 120 days of his/her hire date to participate in the Cafeteria Plan.

 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, voluntary, confidential service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their dependents with personal, job or family related problems.

 

Tax Deferred Plans are offered through Lincoln University to provide employees an opportunity to contribute to a Tax Sheltered Annuity.  Lincoln University employees’ have different options and companies with which to participate and set aside a portion of your income into an account for your retirement.

 

Leave Time  -The university offers eligible employees vacation leave, sick leave and personal leave.  Other Types of Leave include:  Special Leaves of Absence, Military Leave, Time Off Work to Vote and Judicial Obligations.

 

Holiday Schedule – There are 13 designate non-academic paid holidays observed by the University.

 

Educational Assistance Tuition Waiver is granted to benefit eligible employees.  Incidental fees for full-time faculty and staff members with one or more years of service shall be waived for the first twelve hours each semester for undergraduate enrollment.  This policy does not include the summer session.  The waiver can be applied to each dependent child and/or to a spouse of an eligible employee living with the employee provided the child(ren) and/or spouse shall receive the benefits for undergraduate enrollment.
