FROST PERFORMS WELL

   The Lincoln University Blue Tigers golf team opened their fall season by finishing in 8th place (933, +69) at the Missouri Intercollegiate played Sept. 5-6 at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.  Lincoln University ended the first day of play in seventh place (620, +44), 38 strokes behind leader and eventual Missouri Intercollegiate Champions, the University of Missouri-Kansas City (582, +6).  The Kangaroos from Missouri-Kansas City shot an 883 team total to win the event. 

   Matt Sullivan of Missouri State notched the lowest three round score with a three-under par 213.  Dan Frost (jr., Hickman H.S.) was the only Blue Tiger to finish in the top 20.  Frost shot a 220 (75-76-69, +4) and was an event medalist (4th place).  His three round total of 220 was the lowest of all competing NCAA Division II student-athletes.  Junior Rodolfo Gamino tied for 23rd with a 231 (81-75-75, +15).  In his first meet as a Blue Tiger, Kortland Ware tied for 44th at 240 (81-76-83, +24), while teammate Aaron Murphy tied for 48th amassing 242 strokes (80-76-86, +26).  Keith Ware brought in the final score for the Blue Tigers.  Ware, the brother of Kortland, completed play in a tie for 65th at 256 (90-76-90, +40).

   In total the Blue Tigers were fifth out of eight NCAA Division II schools participating.

   The Blue Tigers return to action Sept. 15-16 in the Cougar Classic hosted by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.  The meet will be played on the 6827 yard, par 72 Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River, Ill.
