River Ridge String Band and Harvest Home: November 14, 2008; 7:30 PM in Langston Hughes Theatre
The River Ridge String Band is quickly becoming a local and regional favorite in the traditional/folk music arena. Playing a mix of old-time, traditional, folk, bluegrass and country music, The River Ridge players put on a foot stomping, hand clapping highly energized and entertaining performance. Led by Charlie Nelson on guitar and vocals, the ensemble produces a rich and vibrant sound with Molly White on the clawhammer banjo and mandolin, Cliff White on the hammered dulcimer and John Cunning on percussion and banjo. More than any other musician in Jefferson City, Tom Schultz is identified with Irish music. Patrons of Paddy Malone’s nee Pat’s Place have for years been entertained by this talented and versatile musician. Now a member of a newly formed group of well known Irish musicians from Central Missouri, Harvest Home will make this their debut performance. With Tom playing the bodhran and various string instruments he will be joined by Tim Langen on fiddle, Heinrich Leonhard guitar and Rebecca Logan playing whistle and flute.
