Graduation/Licensure Requirements for Registered Nurses

A.A.S. Graduation

A minimum of 68-69 credit hours with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 is required  for graduation.  A minimum of 64-65 hours will be required for LPNs who enroll in Nur 105 rather than Nur 110.

Students must complete all required courses with grades of "C" or better, to include a minimum of 34 credit hours in nursing.  Eighteen of these credit hours must be taken in residence.

All students must take 3 nationally normed exit exams (HESI), complete supplemental instruction and complete an NCLEX Review Course to pass Nursing Care of Adults II.

A.A.S. Licensure

Upon graduation from the AAS in Nursing , the graduate is eligible to apply to the Missouri State Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN); however, completion of the program does not guarantee eligibility to write the NCLEX RN. The State Board of Nursing determines eligibility requirements.  According to Missouri Statute 335.046,nbsp;

    “The applicant shall be of good moral character and have completed at least the high school course of study or equivalent thereof  as determined by the state board of education, and have successfully completed the basic professional curriculum in an accredited school of nursing.”
