Q. Why does Lincoln University give "Placement Examinations"?
Lincoln University gives the Placement Examinations in an effort to meet the academic needs of a diverse student population and enable students to be successful. Lincoln University uses a two-tiered placement system to assess students' readiness for college level courses.
Q. What is the first tier of the placement system?
The ACT is the first tier, and thus students are required to submit ACT scores in a timely manner to the university as a condition of admittance.
Q. What is the second tier of the placement system?
The second tier consists of additional Reading/Writing and/or Mathematics tests developed by Lincoln University.
The English and Mathematics sub-scores of the ACT enable Lincoln to determine what further testing is necessary to properly place a student in the English and Mathematics course that is most compatible with each student's current level of subject knowledge.
On the basis of the ACT scores and placement test results, students will be assigned to the appropriate levels of English and Mathematics courses. The levels of courses range from pre-college (or developmental) to honors. ACT scores must be on file and placement tests must be taken prior to registration according to an announced schedule.
NOTE: First Time Freshmen who have not submitted ACT scores to the University will be placed in the pre-college English and Mathmatics courses.
