Battlefield Band was named after the Glasgow suburb of Battlefield, where the group was formed by four student friends thirty years ago. Battlefield Band has been distilling its own unique Scottish spirit. Its venues have been worldwide including folk festivals and concerts throughout Europe as well as Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and are regular visitors to the USA, Canada, and the Middle East. Battlefield Band has broken barriers and pioneered many new directions which others have followed. Present members include: Alan Reid (keyboards/guitar/vocals) from Glasgow, one of the founding members of the band and an invaluable factor in their success and longevity.  He provides much of the bands vocals and songwriting, particularly contemporary Scottish themes. Mike Katz (Highland pipes/small pipes/various whistles/bass guitar) is the multi-talented piper who joined the line-up in late 1997 and has contributed massively to the music and accessibility of the band. Sean O'Donnell (vocals/guitar) is an accomplished guitar player and singer from Derry, Northern Ireland.  He has been playing music since the age of 16 and plays bass, bouzouki and the cittern. Alasdair White (fiddle/whistle/banjo/bazouki) a superb fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist, Alasdair hails from the island of Lewis, one of the Gaelic speaking Outer Hebrides.
