Lincoln University Plans a Week of Homecoming Activities
Homecoming Fireworks Show Planned for Friday Evening
[Jefferson City, MO] Lincoln University’s Homecoming 2009 is scheduled for October 4 through October 11. This year’s theme is “This is How We Do It.” The weeklong activities kick off on Sunday, October 4 with the Homecoming Block Party at Jason Gymnasium. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community will enjoy events throughout the week, including the Coronation of Mr. and Miss Lincoln University on Thursday, October 8 and the Homecoming Parade and Football Game on Saturday, October 10. On the entertainment side, R&B artists Jeremih and Day 26 will appear in concert at Richardson Auditorium on Friday, October 9, while the Ohio Players are scheduled to perform at Capitol Plaza Hotel on Saturday, October 10.
One exciting change to this year’s schedule of events is the Homecoming Pep Rally and Fireworks Show, which has been moved to Friday, October 9. Traditionally held on Sunday to kick off the week, organizers opted to move the event to Friday evening to allow more alumni who are traveling from outside Jefferson City to attend the event. The pep rally will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. and will end before 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
