Purpose

The purpose of the common read committee is four-fold:  1.) to create a campus climate that supports reading for pleasure as well as increased literacy, 2.) to introduce important issues of scholarly interest to students, staff, faculty, and members of the community, 3.) to increase our abilities to read critically and engage in meaningful dialog on such issues, and 4.) to initiate incoming/first-year students into the world of academe.
