A Message from the Department Head

There are many people who see education as a way to prosperity and wellbeing. Others see education as a vehicle to freedom and justice. There is something to be said about how education helps to better the human condition by enabling individuals to first better themselves.  Approaching education as a means to freedom, wellbeing, prosperity and justice is needed in today’s global economy. The Department of Business and Economics offers many classes that help our students develop their understanding of themselves and the world. Whether in the areas of personal finance, management, accounting, marketing, finance, organizational behavior, etc., the Department of Business and Economics seeks to equip our students with knowledge (tools) that will help them succeed in business and in any organization.   

The varied nature of the programs within the Department of Business and Economics makes it easier for our students to build bridges between knowledge and practice. The Department of Business and Economics offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Administrative Office Management. We also offer a Bachelor of Science degree in the following areas: Business Administration, Business Education, Economics, Marketing and Public Administration.

The Department of Business and Economics at Lincoln University is committed to providing our diverse students with excellent education opportunity using state-of-the-art classroom equipments. The faculty pursues excellence in teaching supported with innovative and interactive classroom technology. Our faculty also engages in research that helps with up-to-date learning within the various programs.

Our prospective students would readily notice a number of student activities with highly motivated faculty who help our students gain more business experience putting into practice the theories and concepts learned within the classroom.  The student associations provided at the department include Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX), and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE). These associations provide students with opportunities to participate in nationwide conferences and competitions.

Another opportunity provided to our undergraduate students is a chance to pursue a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. Our MBA program is designed for both traditional and non-traditional diverse student body. The accelerated nature of our MBA provides students with the ability to receive the degree in one year. Our various MBA emphases include: Accounting, Management, Entrepreneurship and Public Administration/Policy.

The Department of Business and Economics at Lincoln University has a fully accredited program by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Our national accreditation is a sign that our department is fully in compliance with stated program mission and goals, academic standards, faculty qualifications, student services and facilities. Accreditation also means that the department periodically goes through a rigorous self-study that includes board site visits, evaluations and reevaluations.
