Office of Information Technology Product Support Matrix
SUPPORT LEVELS
Full Support - Product fully supported and a recommended standard. Product support includes current on-line ordering specifications, product installation, phone and on-site trouble shooting, and OIT maintained web page for updates, patches and fixes. Individual departments may be responsible for purchase of replacement parts and/or contracted service costs on warranty-expired hardware.
Partial Support - Product not a recommended standard. Support includes product installation, limited phone and on-site troubleshooting.
No Support - Product is not supported.
All products will be evaluated periodically as to their level of support. New versions of currently supported products will be added to the matrix as they become available. New products, as well as new versions of currently supported products, will be added as "Information Only" level of support until the products have been tested by OIT to determine their stability on university computing platforms, and their ability to successfully use or convert existing data. Products will be upgraded to "Full Support" status only after the products have been tested and have been shown to successfully integrate with existing university systems, and one or more members of the OIT staff has received training on the use and maintenance of the product. Older versions of products will be lowered in support status or removed from the matrix when the product becomes obsolete and no longer functions efficiently with university systems, or a majority of the campus has migrated to newer versions of the product. No more than 2 previous versions of any product will be supported at any time. Whenever products are changed in level of support, notification will be sent to all users via email.
CONDITIONS FOR SUPPORT OF PRODUCTS
· Hardware and software items which are absent from the matrix are not supported.
· Only legal software is supported. Software for which there is no record of purchase is not supported without a written statement from the manufacturer which grants license for its use without cost.
· PCs with outdated or non-existent anti-virus software are not supported for virus related problems.
· PCs with CPUs less than a Pentium 4 Processor operating at 1 GHz with 256 MB of RAM are not supported.
